The 1,800 students at this college were supported by a small help desk that was mainly staffed by students during the day. Generally, they found, there was an increased demand for advanced troubleshooting expertise during the evenings and nighttime when the help desk was low on resources.
In addition, the college sought a partner who had the technical expertise and flexibility to work with their current cable TV provider to build an end-to-end student experience.
To alleviate the burden on the help desk and improve students’ experience throughout campus, the college decided to outsource the upgrades, maintenance and troubleshooting for their residential networks. In collaboration with the campus IT teams and the Director of Housing, Cisco Meraki switches were deployed in all 9 dormitories for wireless connectivity alongside an additional secure connection dedicated to a new video surveillance solution across campus.
By outsourcing their Residential Network to the right technology partner, the college reclaimed their valuable IT resources, students benefited from faster and more reliable access to educational (and recreational) content, and the entire campus gained more peace of mind thanks to the reliable security network.
