Case Study - Technical and Configuration Support and Services
ComSource engineers, pricing analysts and operation personnel have managed many large customer disk, tape, processor and infrastructure upgrades/migrations at a lower Total Cost of Ownership for our customers. While Tier One partners and the manufacturers themselves have the stable of engineers and services to handle these migrations, ComSource is able to save money and significant waste without the layers of costly overhead. ComSource will make sure that all of the existing hardware/software configurations and the proposed upgrade/replacement will meet all of the manufacturer's requirements. For example, on a tape library upgrade ComSource will verify all serial #'s and configurations in the manufacturer's database and confirm that the proposed upgrade will both be supported by and accepted under the customer's maintenance agreement.
Some examples of the services that ComSource can provide include:
- Disk migration over bandwidth via Escon or Ficon channel extension.
- VTS "heartbeat" transplants and/or VTS consolidations.
- Open systems disk migration.
- "Swing" loaner hardware for processors, disk, tape, servers and most all IT components.
- All logistics, operations, installation and de-installation management.
- Complete Network Migration
ComSource uses some additional storage or migration experts for specific and/or tactical requirements (like a heart surgeon the day of heart surgery). This allows us to utilize that individual for specific tasks while eliminating the high cost of services contracts with bloated hierarchies.
